# Loyalty points

Marketing and promotions

Loyalty points reward customers for buying and registering. Points are earned on completed orders and can be spent at checkout, where each point is worth a fixed amount of money.

### Turn the program on

Open **Settings → Sales settings**, tab **Loyalty points**.

Settings → Sales settings → Loyalty points.

| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enabled | Switches the whole program on. |
| Exchange rate | How much one point is worth when spent, in the primary currency. |
| Minimum loyalty points to use | Customers can pay with points only from this balance. |
| Points for account registration | A welcome bonus. |
| Points for purchases | "Each X spent will earn Y points". |
| Awarded order status | Points are credited when the order reaches this status - usually Complete, so returns and cancellations do not cost you points. |
| Points are canceled when the order status is canceled | Takes the points back from a cancelled order. |
| Display number of points that will be earned | Shows the points in the cart and checkout. |
| Points accumulated for all stores | One balance across all stores, instead of a balance per store. |

### What customers see

In **My account → Loyalty points** customers see their balance and history. At checkout, with enough points, they can tick **Use my loyalty points** on the payment step to pay part of the order.

### Add or remove points by hand

On the customer's page in the admin, the **Loyalty points** tab shows the history and lets you add or subtract points with a message - for a goodwill gesture or a correction. See [The customer record](https://grandnode.com/customers-customer-record).
