ASP.NET Core ecommerce platform

GrandNode is an open-source ASP.NET Core ecommerce platform built on .NET 10 and MongoDB. It gives you a complete online store - catalog, shopping cart, checkout, payments, shipping and an admin panel - that you host yourself and extend in C#. It is free under the GPL-3.0, with no per-order fees and no closed SaaS between you and your data.

B2C shops, B2B portals and multi-vendor marketplaces all run on the same codebase, from one installation.

Why build your ecommerce on ASP.NET Core

  • Performance: ASP.NET Core is one of the fastest web frameworks available, and GrandNode caches the catalog per customer group, so most visitors are served from one cached page.
  • Scalability: run several application instances behind a load balancer with a Redis-synced cache, keep pictures in Azure Blob Storage or Amazon S3, and scale MongoDB as your catalog and order history grow.
  • One language end to end: plugins, themes, integrations and background tasks are all C#, debugged in Visual Studio, Rider or VS Code.
  • Cross-platform hosting: Linux, Windows or macOS, in Docker or Kubernetes, with .NET Aspire and OpenTelemetry for local development and monitoring.
  • Long-term support: .NET LTS releases, and GrandNode Official LTS releases with 24 months of security fixes.

A complete ASP.NET Core shopping cart and storefront

Everything a store needs to sell is included, not sold separately as modules.

  • Catalog: simple, grouped, bundled, auction and reservation products, with attributes, variants and per-variant stock.
  • Cart and checkout: guest and registered checkout, wishlists, Stripe Checkout, Braintree and cash on delivery, shipping by weight, fixed rate or pickup points.
  • Pricing and promotions: tier and per-customer prices, discounts, coupons, loyalty points and gift vouchers.
  • International selling: many languages including right-to-left, multiple currencies with automatic exchange rates, and tax by country.
  • Content and SEO: pages, blog and a knowledgebase; friendly URLs, XML sitemaps and structured data.
  • GDPR tools: data export, account deletion, cookie consent and privacy-policy acceptance.

One .NET ecommerce platform for B2B, B2C and marketplaces

  • B2C: a fast, mobile-friendly storefront with themes you can override view by view.
  • B2B: customer groups with their own prices, company sub-accounts, sales employees and VAT handling - see B2B ecommerce.
  • Marketplace: vendors with their own panel, products and orders - see multi-vendor marketplace.
  • Multi-store: many stores from one installation, each with its own domains, language, currency and company details.

Open-source ASP.NET ecommerce you host yourself

The source code is on GitHub. You choose where the store runs - your own server, any cloud or a container platform - and you own the code, the database and the customer data. There is no vendor lock-in: if a feature does not fit, you change it.

Data lives in MongoDB, a document database that fits product catalogs with many attributes and variants, and grows without schema migrations.

A C# ecommerce platform built for developers

  • Plugins and themes for payments, shipping, tax, widgets, discount rules and authentication - see writing a plugin.
  • APIs: a JWT-secured backend API with OpenAPI documentation, and a frontend API for headless storefronts - see the REST API.
  • Clean architecture: layered services, an in-house mediator, domain events and scheduled tasks.
  • AI-ready codebase: the AI Agent Kit teaches coding agents how GrandNode is built.

Guides for installing, configuring and extending the platform are in the knowledgebase.

Open http://localhost and the installer guides you through the rest. Release packages and building from source are on Download and in installing GrandNode.

Compared with other .NET ecommerce platforms

GrandNode is one of a handful of open-source ASP.NET ecommerce platforms, and the only one built on MongoDB. Our comparison of open-source .NET ecommerce platforms shows how it differs from nopCommerce, Smartstore, Virto Commerce and Orchard Core Commerce.

Frequently asked questions

Is GrandNode free?

Yes. GrandNode is open source under the GPL-3.0 and free to use, including for commercial stores. GrandNode Official adds LTS releases with 24 months of security fixes for teams that need them.

Which .NET version does GrandNode use?

GrandNode 2.4 runs on ASP.NET Core and .NET 10. What is planned next is on the roadmap.

Can I use GrandNode as a headless ecommerce backend?

Yes. The frontend API exposes the storefront logic as JSON, so you can build the shop in React, Vue, Next.js or a mobile app and keep GrandNode for the catalog, cart, checkout and orders.

Do I need to know C# to run a store?

No. Products, orders, content and settings are managed in the admin panel. C# is only needed when you write your own plugins, themes or integrations.

Can I move my store from another platform?

Yes. We migrate products, customers, orders and SEO URLs for a fixed price - request a quote.
