Creating a discount
A discount lowers a price automatically or with a coupon code. Every discount in GrandNode has the same parts: what it applies to (its type), how much (a percentage or an amount), when (dates), for whom (requirements) and how often (limitations). This article walks through creating one; the next articles go deeper into types, codes and rules.
Where to find it
Marketing → Discounts lists all discounts with their type, value, dates, how many times they were used and whether they are enabled.

Create a discount
- Click Add new.
- Enter a Name. Customers see it in the cart and on the order, so make it readable ("Autumn sale 10%").
- Choose the Discount type - for example Assigned to categories. See Discount types.
- Set the value: switch Use percentage on and enter the Discount percentage, or leave it off and enter a fixed Discount amount in the chosen Currency code.
- Optionally set Start date and End date, the stores it is Limited to, and a Discount limitation.
- Tick Is enabled and save. For types that apply to something (products, categories...), open the new tab Applied to ... and add the items.

Fields
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Is enabled | Switches the discount on and off without deleting it. |
| Use percentage, Discount percentage | A percentage off. With Maximum allowed discount amount you cap it, for example 10% but at most 50. |
| Discount amount, Currency code | A fixed amount off, in the currency you choose. |
| Maximum discounted quantity | For product-level types: how many units of a product get the discount (0 = all). "10% off, max 2 per order". |
| Cumulative with other discounts | If off, the customer gets the best single discount. If on, this discount can add up with other cumulative discounts. |
| Calculate by plugin | Lets a discount plugin compute the amount instead of the fixed value. |
| Start date, End date | The period in which the discount works. Empty means no limit. |
| Requires coupon code | The discount applies only after the customer enters a code. See Coupon codes and limits. |
| Discount limitation | No limits, N times only, or N times per customer. |
| Limited to stores | On a multi-store installation, the stores in which the discount works. |
Usage history
The Usage history tab lists every order that used the discount, with the date and order total. Delete an entry to give a use back to a limited discount, for example after a cancelled order.

Tips and common mistakes
- Test a new discount with a customer account before you announce it; check the cart, not only the product page.
- Leave Cumulative off unless you mean it; two stacked percentage discounts are easy to forget about.
- Expired discounts stay in the list; disable or delete them to keep the list readable.
